"I met Jewel and ended up in a small village getting tattooed by Whang Od, the world's oldest tattoo artist and a legend in the Philippines. It was an adventure that took 22 hours of buses, jeepneys, cars, and hikes to reach Buscalan Village. At her age, Whang Od can no longer tattoo full designs, but she still does her signature of three dots. Despite this, she is lively and happy, joking and laughing with people. Every time I see this tattoo, it reminds me of the adventure. This experience was one of my favorites from all my travels. Thank you, Jewel and Whang Od, for the great memories."
